Shihan Jim Hope
I started my training at age 14 in the basement dojo of Sensei Tim Formigan. This was in the American style and through the American Karate System that was founded by the late Ernest Lieb. I trained in that basement weekly for many years, and went on to open two schools with Sensei Tim. These led to the Mind, Body and Spirit Institute which was located in Westland Michigan.
In addition to being a student and assistant instructor with Sensei Tim, I continued my training in other arts through the years. And have trained with the following instructors:

I am the co-founder of the Mind Body and Spirit Institute, the TiJi Ryu American Karate System and the Kino Ryu Kai Association.
I have taught several Self Defense seminars for Henry Ford Community College, The Hyatt Regency Hotel, the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars and Ford Motor Company. In addition I currently teach at the North Oakland YMCA.
I am the co- owner of All-Star Karate Family Center located in Livonia Michigan, and am currently under the instruction of Soke George Gaffke.
I am a member of the Shiho Karano Kai International, International Bujinkan Dojo Association, the American Karate System and the Kino Ryu Kai Association.
Shihan Jim teaches Kuji Ryu, Godaido Ryu and Tiji Ryu American Karate.

Sensei Justin Hardesty
Sensei Justin Hardesty
Sensei Hardesty has been training for 17 years in Isshinryu Karate,Jujitsu and Kickboxing.
He has been teaching for 7 years and loves working with kids. He is great at motivating any student and is always willing to go the extra mile and offer any student extra help.
Sensei Hardesty currently heads up all Isshinryu classes and he also teaches Muay Thai Kickboxing.

Sensei Andreas Formigan
Sensei Andreas is the son of Sensei Tim Formigan, he has been surrounded by martial arts his entire life. He is a very non-traditional instructor who loves to combine the different arts until he finds what works best.
He is currently under the instruction of Sensei Jim Hope

Sensei Andreas currently teaches TiJi Ryu American Karate and Self Defense . He also offers one on one training. In addition, Sensei Andreas teaches at the North Oakland YMCA.
Sensei Mike Dunn
Sensei Mike started Judo in 1994 after spending most of his life in Tae Kwon Do,
Hapkido, kick boxing and boxing.

Sensei Jeremy Palmer
Sensei Jeremy Palmer heads up the Cardio Kickboxing program for All-Star Karate. Jeremy has been teaching kickboxing in the Metro Detroit area for several years, including instruction at Henry Ford Community College (HFCC) and Visteon Plant(s). Well versed in Cardio Kickboxing and other Martial Arts techniques by his father-in-law, Sensei Tim Formigan, Jeremy is a valued senior member of the All-Star Team.
After much respected Martial Arts instructor, Sensei Tim, became too ill to continue his full-time Cardio Kickboxing instruction, Jeremy was promoted as the main kickboxing instructor at HFCC. After two years of teaching and learning, Jeremy was awarded a black belt in Cardio Kickboxing from The Mind, Body and Spirit Institute. Even though Sensei Tim sadly passed away due to ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), Jeremy has chosen to continue teaching in honor and memory of his father-in-law at All-Star Karate.
Sensei Palmer teaches Cardio Kickboxing and teaches tiny tigers.

Sifu Naomi Palmer
Naomi Palmer began learning and practicing Tai Chi Chuan in 1997, when she had the opportunity to learn from Master Li Sheng-Long during his brief stay in America. Together with her father, Sensei Tim Formigan, she learned the Yang style short and long forms. As fate would have it, Naomi made the journey from student to teacher, Master Li always speaking of his grandiose vision of how she would one day “bring Tai Chi to America”, she has honored this vision and leads the Tai Chi Chuan program at All-Star Karate.
She enjoys the relaxing, healing, strengthening and meditative aspects of Tai Chi, and receives great joy in sharing those benefits with others. She received her Black Sash in Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan in 2007.
Sifu Palmer teaches Tai Chi.
